Channel or Radar flow meter manufacturer

As a leading Radar Flow Meter Manufacturer and Supplier, Aranka Instruments LLP provides advanced non-contact solutions for accurate water flow measurement in rivers, canals, and open channels. Combining a radar level sensor and velocimeter, these meters precisely calculate flow using channel geometry. Recognized as a trusted Radar Flow Meter Manufacturer in Ahmedabad, we offer durable, weatherproof, and low-maintenance systems. As a reliable Radar Flow Meter Supplier in Ahmedabad, our meters support remote monitoring and perform efficiently in hydrology, irrigation, and environmental applications.

How it works:

Non-contact measurement:

Radar flow meters utilize radar waves to measure the water level and surface velocity without direct contact with the water.

Level measurement:
A radar level sensor emits a microwave signal towards the water surface, and by analyzing the reflected signal, the distance to the water surface (and thus the water level) can be determined.
Velocity measurement:
A radar current meter (or velocimeter) measures the surface velocity of the water using the Doppler effect. The Doppler effect is the change in frequency of a wave (in this case, radar waves) for an observer who is moving relative to the wave source. By analyzing the Doppler shift in the reflected radar signal, the speed of the water surface can be calculated.
Flow rate calculation:

The measured water level and surface velocity, along with information about the channel’s geometry (cross-sectional area), are used to calculate the overall flow rate using established flow equations. For irregular river sections, point method and calculus calculations may be used.

Radar area/Velocity Flowmeter is used for open channel flow measurement with noncontact technology. Widely application for flow measuring in river, irrigation, underground drainage network, flood warning, etc.. After equipping with RTU module, the measurement data can be acquisition to PC, and user can check data and control device in remote. you can also use our local monitoring device AIRFM22 to monitor local display and get retransmission Flow & level output.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Radar Flow Meter for rivers?

A radar flow meter measures open channel flow by combining radar level sensing and surface velocity estimation to compute total flow.

How does it work?

It uses radar to determine water level and detects surface velocities via Doppler measurements; those are combined with channel geometry to calculate flow.

Why choose radar instead of submerged sensors?

Radar sensors are non-contact, reducing fouling and maintenance, and work well in environments with debris or sediment.

What are the applications?

Used in rivers, canals, irrigation channels, stormwater drains, and environmental monitoring systems.

Can it transmit data remotely?

Yes — common communication options include RS-485 Modbus, 4–20 mA, and wireless (GPRS, LoRa, etc.).

Does it require power supply?

Yes — the radar electronics, transmitter modules, and data loggers need external power (typically 24 V DC or mains).

How does Aranka’s radar meter differ?

Our devices are built for Indian climate conditions, with weatherproof enclosures, remote diagnostics, and certified quality standards.

In which applications is this meter useful?

It is ideal for rivers, canals, irrigation systems, underground drainage, and flood monitoring networks.
